UNA proclaims final senatorial lineup for 2013 election
MANILA, Philippines – The final senatorial lineup of United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), including Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, was finally announced by Vice President Jejomar Binay Thursday.
Aside from Escudero, Binay also proclaimed that UNA would assure its 99.9 percent advantage because of former Tarlac governor Margarita “Tingting” Cojuangco who finally joined the group.
Tingting Cojuangco was the wife of former congressman Jose “Peping” Cojuangco Jr., the brother of former President Cory Aquino.
According to Binay, the inauguration of Escudero and Cojuangco made the completion of the final lists of candidates of UNA for this coming May 2013 election.
Some of the final candidates of UNA were named to:
- incumbent Senator Gregorio Honasan
- Cagayan Representative Juan “Jack” Ponce-Enrile Jr.
- San Juan City Representative JV Ejercito
- Zambales Representative Milagros “Mitos” Magsaysay
- Former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri
- Former Senator Richard Gordon
- Former Senator Ernesto Maceda
- Businessman Joey de Venecia; and
- Senator Loren Legarda as guest candidate
The oath taking ceremony of other local new members of UNA was also acknowledged Wednesday September 26.
Vice President Jejomar Binay led the ceremony with Quezon City Representative Mat Defensor, Caloocan City Representative Oscar “Oca” Malapitan, Muntinlupa Mayor Aldrin San Pedro, Councilor Dale “Along” Malapitan, and Rita Crisologo, wife of Quezon City First District Congressman Vicente Crisologo.
“Mabuhay na lang tayo sa usapang kumpleto na kami sa ngayon ha.,” said Binay on an interview.
“We can tell you now that we will be filing our candidacy on October 1, at 1 p.m.,” he added.
United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) is a newly-formed association established by the unification of PDP-Laban of Vice President Jejomar Binay and Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino of former President Joseph Estrada.
